The Peugeot 301 was released almost a century ago - in 1932 to be precise - at the Paris Motor Show and for four years, until 1936, it was the larger version of the Peugeot 201 and the late successor to the Peugeot Type 177, of which the production was stopped since 1929. Despite the 1930s crisis that ravaged Europe, due to, among other things, the Wall Street Crash of 1929, Peugeot managed to design a reliable car that was budget friendly. Despite the savings made to keep the car as cheap as possible, there was no compromise on progressiveness or elegant design.

The roaring twenties were followed by a decade of turmoil: the Wall Street Crash of 1929 caused economies in Europe to collapse, Nazism was on the rise in Germany, and while the Great War had not yet been forgotten, a new international conflict was looming. People stopped spending money like they did in the previous decade. Thus, car manufacturers were given the challenging task of being responsive to this situation. In 1932, Peugeot introduced the Peugeot 301, which is a second-generation avant-garde family car, following on the Peugeot Type 177, powered by a water-cooled 1465 cc four-in-line engine that produces 35 hp and is available in various versions. Numerous variants of this car were delivered: a limousine, a convertible, a saloon, a coupe, and even a tipper van. All variants were based on the standard version, the 301C.

Savings had to be made, but Peugeot did not compromise on inventiveness: the Peugeot 301 was the first car ever made with independent front-wheel suspension and suspension, which provides a comfortable driving experience as never seen before. The elegant and proud design, as well as the beautiful finish of the interior, emits craftsmanship and know-how.

The Peugeot 301 came just right on time, during the interwar crisis. This car was a pioneer in independent wheel suspension and suspension in general. Nowadays, the car is a rare object that can often be admired in war or vintage car museums. Nevertheless, this pre-war French car remains a sought-after and affordable vintage car.
