Sunbeam è un marchio automobilistico britannico, inizialmente prodotto a Wolverhampton. Sunbeam è nata dalla fabbrica "Japanware" di John Marston, fondata nel 1859. Nei primi anni del 1900, Sunbeam ottenne molti successi nelle corse automobilistiche, in particolare sul circuito di Brooklands, al Grand Prix e alla Coupe de l'Auto de Dieppe e anche alla 24 ore di Le Mans. Da non dimenticare le famose auto da record di velocità "Bleu Bird" e "Sunbeam 1000hp" che hanno fatto la storia a Pendine Sands e Daytona Beach. Nel 1953 apparve la "Sunbeam-Talbot Alpine", una roadster a due posti sviluppata dal concessionario "Sunbeam-Talbot" George Hartwell che la intendeva come auto da rally. Nel 1954, il nome "Talbot" fu abbandonato e "Sunbeam" divenne il nome delle auto sportive del marchio. Di conseguenza, in quell'anno la "Alpine" fu ribattezzata "Sunbeam Alpine". La produzione della "Alpine" terminò nel 1956. Fu sostituita dalla "Sunbeam Rapier". Il "Sunbeam 90 Mark III" fu prodotto dal 1954 al 1957. La calandra contrassegnava il modello come "Sunbeam Supreme". La versione cabriolet scomparve nel 1955. In totale, furono prodotte circa 2250 vetture della "Sunbeam Alpine MK I e III", di cui solo circa 200 esisterebbero ancora! Un'auto rara, in altre parole!

 The Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register caters for all Talbot, Sunbeam Talbot and Sunbeam cars produced by Rootes between 1936 and 1956.

The Club which was founded in 1969 has 729 members worldwide, with 91 members in USA/Canada, 112 in the rest of the world (including 9 in Holland, 8 in Belgium, 13 in France, 12 in Germany) and the balance of just over 500 in the UK. The Club produces an informative magazine Stardust every 2 months.

Special note on the special engine

"I have had another look at the engine bay images. The engine is sporting the Special elbow-carburettor (Rootes Parts Catalogue description for the 'pancake'), twin choke Solex carburetor, inlet manifold, AC centrifugal air cleaner and fishtail inlet. However there is not the correct oil filler with the breather tube from the air cleaner. The rocker cover is also fitted with an Alpine MKI vent pipe support plate. The chassis number is A3013765 LRX which is not one of the 93 factory Specials (46 RHD & 47 LHD). I think the car has a Special engine fitted or the Special head, manifolds and twin choke etc off a Special engine.
