Citroën Traction Avant 11 BL – 1950 – Belgian production

This Citroën Traction 11 BL, built in 1950 and of Belgian production, is in good overall condition following a professional restoration. The car has 94,289 km on the odometer and is finished in grey, with the original chassis number 10A26196A clearly visible under the hood.

The bodywork has been resprayed and presents well, although signs of normal use are visible. The underside shows only superficial rust. The interior has been nicely restored, with carpets in very good condition.

The engine bay is correct and honest, with visible signs of an older restoration. The engine itself is original and has recently been serviced, although there is a slight oil leak. Fluid levels are correct, and the car is generally well maintained.

Mechanically, the clutch, gearbox and brakes are in good condition. The handbrake still requires adjustment. The electrical system functions largely correctly (horn, wipers, heater and dashboard are operational), although the wipers need to be replaced. The headlights do not fully function and require repair.

The suspension and axles operate as they should, with slight play on the front right and rear left. The battery is in good condition and could last several more years.

Conclusion from Xavier: A neatly presented, correctly restored Citroën Traction Avant with charming looks and a solid foundation. One of the nicest and freshest examples I’ve seen in years. It goes without saying that in current times, with costly labour and spare parts, restoring a 70-plus-year-old Citroën is no longer economically justifiable. And that is exactly what makes this offer so special.

This vehicle is a unique opportunity for a demanding Citroën enthusiast who is looking for a professionally restored car, suitable for either intensive or occasional use. You can do anything with this car – from detailing it to concours level to driving it daily or taking it on long journeys.

Such an opportunity rarely comes along and is becoming increasingly rare, because I don’t know of any professional restorers still taking on these kinds of restorations with the intent to resell.

Are you as enthusiastic as I am and does this sound like music to your ears? Come visit, and we’ll take a drive together through the country roads of Aalter so I can show you the full potential of this outstanding car.
