This special edition was only intended for the German market.
Helios Blau, Completely original (rare), owned by the current owner since 2005, well cared for and looking for an enthusiastic new owner for the following decades.
Model:
In March 1975, a sporty variant of the Volkswagen Golf was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Golf GTI. The idea behind it was quite simple: take an economical car for basic transport and give it a high-quality package, making it practical and sporty. It was one of the first small cars with mechanical fuel injection. This special model was powered by 1588 cc and 1780 cc four-cylinder engines powered by injection, giving them a respectable 110 & 112 hp and 140 Nm of torque. Aided with an empty weight of just 810 kg (1,785 lbs), the GTI was able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 9 seconds. The top speed was 180 km/h (about 110 mph).
Many consider the Golf GTI Mk1 to be the first Hot Hatch on the market, but it was in fact preceded by the Autobianchi A 112 Abarth in 1971. The Golf GTI was arguably the first hot hatch with mass market appeal, and many other manufacturers have since adopted special sports models of their regular volume-selling small hatchbacks.
